My name is Jenny and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (#3783), a Certified EMDR Therapist, an EMDRIA-Approved Consultant and a LENS Neurofeedback Technician. I am also approved to provide services for individuals who are eligible for the Crime Victims Assistance Program.
I completed a Master’s of Arts Degree in Counselling Psychology at the Adler University and attended the University of British Columbia for my Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology and my Diploma in Guidance Studies. I received my post-graduate training in trauma, PTSD, Complex PTSD, Attachment Theory, and Adlerian Therapy.
My practice is based on warmth, compassion, respect, and acceptance – I believe that a trusting and non-judgmental counselling relationship is essential for productive therapy. To allow this deeply personal work to be done, I strive to create a safe and secure environment for my clients. Therefore, I take on a gentle, encouraging, and inquisitive approach so that clients can courageously build on their existing strengths and heal from past wounds. My wish is for my clients to lead healthy, meaningful, and joyful lives.
As the Founder of the EMDR Therapy Group, I am excited that the people in our community has a place to access approachable and experienced therapists who are resiliency and trauma-informed! Because of the powerful impact EMDR Therapy has on people, I am driven to develop and strengthen a team of skilled EMDR therapists who are passionate about creating an encouraging environment for people to heal, grow, and thrive.
In addition to private practice, I have worked as a Parent Support Counsellor and a Child and Family Counsellor at Cameray Child and Family Services, and as a Clinical Counsellor at the Burnaby Youth Clinic. I am committed to encouraging positive growth and change in the community through my passion for counselling and healing.
If you think we could work well together, I look forward to hearing from you.
Take good care,
